THE BIG BREAK The design duo Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman met at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, in London, where they channeled the spirit of Marchesa Louisa Casati as muse to their label- Marchesa. The big break for the emerging brand came swiftly when Renee Zellweger slipped on one of their creations for the opening of Bridget Jones -The Edge of Reason, in 2004. Powered by a host of high-flying financiers,one being Chapman’s husband and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, the pair has dominated the Oscar red carpet for a decade.

IT GIRL This week, Belgian designer, Dries Van Noten, pulled Marchesa Louisa Casati back into the limelight by recreating her famous looks for his Paris runway show. The heiress has been the inspiration for Cartier’s Panther Collection and held the position of It Girl through two decades- rubbing shoulders with Picasso and Coco Chanel while sporting a leopard coat and dripping with Lalique jewellery.
