WedLuxe- An Angel At My Table
WEDLUXE– Angela Desveaux wasn’t pleased with her wedding photos but lucky for her, she married a wedding videographer and off they went into the sunset to build, WedLuxe, a hugely popular wedding publication, digital media and event business. Sound too good to be true? You’re right. Getting from A to B in media has been an uphill battle for the former graphic artist and her partner and husband, Bruce Patterson. Fast forward ten years to today and Angela has the cream of society clamoring to be in her, soon to be, three publications. From her second office in Palm Beach, Florida, she is poised to conquer the world.
“We started our first magazine in Vancouver,” says the Napanee native. “But, Vancouver was too small to support the luxury vision we were looking for,” explaining that early into the venture she went into six-figure debt and nearly lost her house, but instead of packing it in, the husband and wife team took a further gamble and expanded with a version of the magazine for Toronto. Three years later, they were in the black.
William Ashley is proud to be a part of many of the WedLuxe photoshoots, above are Moser toasting flutes and Vera Wang dinnerware by Wedgwood complimented by flatware by Versace.
“Design comes first” says Angela acknowledging her in-house creative team, consisting of social media experts, writers and graphics specialists. “We research everything outside of weddings too, fashion, what is happening in home décor, even historically,” explaining that her last WedLuxe cover shoot was set at a privately owned English Castle called Eastnor.
“No balance,” she affirms, when asked about how she maintains her home/work place equilibrium, explaining that her life is her work and vice versa. She sits everyday in an office facing her husband, admitting that she is a shy person who rarely goes out to public functions and is almost never seen schmoozing at her own luxury bridal events. “I’m very good, one on one,” she laughs like a best friend at an in-joke.
These two beautiful WedLuxe shoots consist of Kate Spade flatware, chargers by I.V.V., dinnerware by Wedgwood, left, and Incanto by Vietri with flatware by Ricci, right.
“Don’t have your ceremony too late,” says Angela, “ two p.m. is a perfect time, and make sure you hire a photographer who is going to capture your personality,” adds the wedding expert. She regrets, due to a late wedding (four p.m.), that she did not have time to have portraits done. These are her two most important words of wisdom to couples when celebrating their most important day together.
In the coming months, Angela will be launching a version of WedLuxe Magazine destined for the United States and a global market. It is time for this Ontarian entrepreneur to take on the world. “If you are not growing, you are not in business,” says Angela as she picks out a few of her favourite things, right here, at Ashley’s.

FunFacts: When in Toronto, Angela gets her hair done across from our 55 Bloor Street West location and is in love with our store displays. “I love the patterns and style at William Ashley,” she added and we are proud to have Angela as an adopted part of our William Ashley family.
Since the interview, Angela has signed a new contract to develop a wedding magazine in the Caribbean.
